ENGLISH: there was/there were

En la unidad 5, vimos "There is / There are" que significaba "hay". En este tema vamos a ver "There was/ there were" que es lo mismo pero en pasado, "había". 

There was / There were

• "There was" y "there were" es la forma del pasado simple de "there is" y "there are"
• Usamos "there was" para el singular.
• Usamos "there were" para el plural.

	Singular	Plural
Affirmative	There was a very big volcanic eruption.	There were shops, squares and markets.
Negative	There wasn’t a cinema.	There weren’t any football stadiums.
Questions	Was there a market?	Were there any gladiators?
Short answers	Yes, there was.	Yes, there were
	No, there wasn’t.	No, there weren’t

Tarea para hoy:

• Realizar esquema en la libreta sobre there was / there were. Hay que copiar el título que he puesto en azul y todo lo de abajo, incluida la tabla. La podéis hacer igual o en un esquema que os resulte más fácil para estudiar. 
• Realizar los ejercicios 5 y 6 de la página 76.
• Enviarlo al email.

Aclaraciones de los ejercicios:

- En el ejercicio 5, tenemos que hacer frases con there was y there were sobre Pompeya. Hay que fijarse si tienen una (x) será en negativa y si tienen un (✓) será afirmativa. Y también si es plural o singular para escribir was o were. El ejemplo pone: football stadium X // la respuesta sería en negativa y usando was porque estadio de fútbol es singular, por lo tanto la respuesta es: There wasn't a football stadium in Pompeii in AD 79. La coletilla de "in Pompeii in AD 79" hay que escribirla en todas las frases. 

- En el ejercicio 6 hay que completar las preguntas con there was / there were y responderlas según tú. En el ejemplo te dice la primera: Was there a football match on TV last night? (¿había partido de fútbol anoche en la tele?) como no había, nuestra respuesta será "No, there wasn't"
